Nanotechnology is a rapidly expanding area of research with huge potential to revolutionize our lives and provide technological solutions to our problems in agriculture, energy, environment, and medicine.

B.Sc. M.Sc. Nanoscience and Technology at IIS University has the potential for applications and job creation in nearly every commercial sector. It can unlock and unleash vast business opportunities. The technology is helping to considerably improve, even revolutionize, many technologies and industry sectors: information technology, homeland security, medicine, transportation, energy, food safety, and environmental science, among many others.

During the development of nanotechnology, industries are likely to have high demands for the scientists, engineers, and technicians who have to build and integrate the new ideas into processes and products. Nanotechnology primarily refers to the use and creation of particles that are smaller than 100 nanometres.

The Government of India launched the Nano Mission in 2007 as an umbrella capacity-building programme. As a result of the efforts led by the Nano Mission, today, India is amongst the top five nations in the world in terms of scientific publications in nanoscience and technology.

The Nano Mission has resulted in useful products like Nano hydrogel-based eye drops, pesticide removal technology for drinking water, water filters for arsenic and fluoride removal, Nano silver-based antimicrobial textile coating, etc.
