B.Sc-M.Sc in Nano Science and Technology

(Five Year / Ten Semester Integrated Dual Degree Programme)

A 5 year integrated program is designed with an objective to provide in-depth knowledge about the fundamental aspects of nanoscience and technology with an emphasis on synthesis, visualization and manipulation at the nanoscale.

The programme will focus on imparting the application knowledge of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology to students so as to find solutions of societal problems like environmental, industrial and health for sustainable development of the society.

The program will provide multidisciplinary skill based education to students in order for them to participate in the development, design, characteristics and application of nanomaterial.

 

This program will prepare students as industry ready and will open the job opportunities in the field of environmental observing, sensors and controls, food science, forensics, military and national security, energy capture, and storage, electronic industries, and material science including textiles, polymers, packaging, auto and aerospace industries, sporting goods, biotechnology, drug delivery and other medical fields. Students may apply for opportunities such as nanotechnologists, specialists or scientists in prestigious institutes around the world after completion of this programme. Candidates with Ph.D in this discipline can also apply as faculty members in higher education institutes. 

The syllabus is designed in accordance with the provisions of National Education Policy- 2020 and choice based credit system (CBCS) and has provisions of lateral entry and exit at multiple levels. Any student exiting after completing one year of programme (Sem-I &Sem-II) and obtaining 52 credits as per syllabus of Sem. I&II will get a Certificate in Nanoscience & Technology. Student exiting after completing two years of programme (Sem I – IV) and having earned 124 credits as per syllabus of Sem. I to IV will get a Diploma in Nanoscience & Technology.

On exiting after completing three years of the programme (Sem I – VI) and securing 156 credits the student will get a B.Sc. Degree in Nanoscience& Technology which will be equivalent to B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) since the current syllabi is equivalent to 70% of the credits/ syllabi of B.Sc. Pass Course (PCM). On exiting after completing four years of the programme and obtaining – ____ credits the student will get a B.Sc. Degree plus P.G. Diploma in Nanoscience & Technology.

After completion of five years of the programme and earning 258 credits as per syllabus of Sem. I to X, the student will get B.Sc. & M.Sc. degrees in Nanoscience & Technology. The M.Sc. degree in Nanoscience & Technology is equivalent to M.Sc. (Physics) as per 70% equivalence of Sem. VII to X of this programme with the M.Sc. (Physics) programme. The students can also enter the above programme through lateral entry in Sem. III/V/VII after qualifying Sem. II/IV/VI respectively from any other UGC recognized institutions and obtaining required credits according to the credit based admission policy of the University.
